Veteran Actor and Director Ricky Davao Passes Away at 63

 

The entertainment world is grieving the loss of seasoned actor and television director Ricky Davao, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 63.

Born Frederick Charles Caballes Davao on May 30, 1961, he became a prominent figure in Philippine entertainment, with a career that spanned more than four decades.

Davao first rose to fame as a dancer with the Vicor Crowd before making his mark in film, television, and theater. He gained recognition for his portrayal of a fictionalized Bongbong Marcos in the 1980s play Bongbong at Kris and for his memorable roles as a villain in popular TV dramas like Mula sa Puso.

Beyond his acting career, Davao also made significant contributions behind the scenes as a television director. He served as a juror at the ASEAN International Film Festival Awards in 2013 and was involved in the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival in 2019.
